cesariojpn Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 The benchmark in question: http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/ds_mark.prl?PidBox=TU3104 The benchmark toppled in February: http://www.mauinews.com/page/content.detail/id/570219/Lahaina-flagpole-has--always-been-there--but-crashes-down.html On advice of folks here, I took pictures of the existing cement base and surrounding area. I sent an e-mail with the pics and a kink to the news article to NGS like it was instructed during the recovery report process. That was in March. It's now May. Usually, recovery reports get thrown out in a month. Why has this direct submission been delayed? Quote
AZcachemeister Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Since it is an intersection station, there is very little concern if it is there or not. It has been decades since intersection stations were used regularly, and nobody is going to try to use it now (even if it were still in place). I'm sure it will eventually be marked as destroyed, but it's not a high priority. Quote
