This will be the third year in a row that we will be doing this, and we're planning it already!

A couple of years ago, a bunch of Portland, Oregon area cachers got together to volunteer a couple hours pulling ivy at a state park called Champoeg(Shampoo-ee). It is located (sorta) between Portland and Salem.

As a thank-you for our effort, the park let us use one of their large covered areas for a BIG pot-luck.

After that, we all played various caching games and relaxed around the campfire.

The second year was BIGGER! More people! Still did the ivy pulling and pot-luck... But this time, we had a grand scale event cache called Broken Arrow which was 9-months in the making! It was a blast(no pun intended)! We had a HUGE geo-party afterwards that seemed to go on for a few days...

Well.. We're doing it AGAIN this coming year, and we want to take over the entire park with Geocachers icon_cool.gif

So far, we have cachers signed up to camp from Washington State, Oregon, and California. This is an open invitation to cachers EVERYWHERE to come and join us! Help us pull some nasty ivy out of a beautiful park... Join us in a huge feast... And be a part of some event caches like you have never seen before icon_wink.gif

Here's some links to events from the past 2 years:

The First Champoeg Gathering

THE APPARATUS - A wacky event cache put on by the one and only Soup!

The Second Champoeg Gathering

Capture THE APPARATUS - The second in the series by Soup!

Broken Arrow - The BIG event that happend at the second Champoeg gathering.. What an event! What a day! A Soup and fractal event cache that people are STILL talking about icon_cool.gif

If you would like to attend, here are some links you will need:

Reserve America - This is the site where you can reserve a campsite. One cool bonus is that the day we hold the event is also Oregon State Parks Day, and tent camping is free!

When you reserve, try to get a site in the A-loop (that's where almost all of the other cachers are). Only go for B-loop if A is full.

The main day for events is Saturday June 5th, but a lot of folks will be staying Friday-Sunday/Monday.

We have a map that shows which cachers are in which spots. It can be found in the forums over at Portland Geocaching.

If you do get a campsite, or just plan on stopping in for the day, please post a note on the forums over there so we can try and get a head count icon_smile.gif

If you want/need more information, or have any questions, please post on the forums on the Portland Geocaching site. We would be happy to help icon_smile.gif

Hope to see you there!

I'm not sure this event would be considered 'Organized Caching' more like Organized Chaos!!

But it's definatly the most fun GeoEvent I've ever been to. There is more than enough time to plan a trip out for this event, you won't be dissapointed.
