Caching/Camping Trip

We are hoping to go camping/caching to the Cambridge (within 20 miles) area on the last Bank Holiday in May. The surrounding area is cache rich but according to maps, not swamped with camp sites. Searching for camp sites in the area yields a few but we know that quite a lot of sites don’t advertise. Ideally, we would like to camp within walking distance of at least 1 decent sized series. Not sure if we are allowed to mention suitable sites on here but we would be glad to hear from anyone who may know somewhere suitable. Failing that, a camp site in any area (within a few counties distance of Oxfordshire) which is walkable to a large-ish series.

Highfield Farm Campsite at Comberton (west of Cambridge) is near to several caches - 4 trads and a puzzle in an around nearby Coton Countryside Reserve, for starters.

There's also a caravan / campsite at on A1307 at Great Shelford (southern outskirts of Cambridge). Another batch of caches at Wandlebury Country Park - 2 multis, 2 trads and a virtual - about 2 miles from Gt Shelford, with a couple of caches on or just off the way at Terry Dactile's Nest, Clerk's Piece, Babraham Rd P&R site. Several more around Trumpington, about 1 mile NW of campsite.

Plus, loads more caches within city - best to use P&R services, instead of driving into city.

Never stayed at at campsites near Cambridge, due to living here.

My fault, I didn't elaborate enough. We were really looking at the big loops in the Grafham Water area, west of Cambridge. We are aiming for at least 100+ caches over 2 days. Have stayed at Highfield Farm in the past and it was superb. Thanks very much though Copepod.

Have you tried this website: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results.asp?county=Cambridgeshire, there is a campsite right by Grafham Water

Check out http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2735

There are couple of large series nearby 3 Shires way that goes around the lake and then S2E2 and the Woolley Mamouth series.

If you are looking for trails, check out my site http://www.geocachetrails.com were you can search the map for series, colour coded by size

I've booked a room at http://www.new-manor-farm.co.uk/ nearby

Ive always got my head in ukcampsite at this time of year but it has yeilded nothing to fit the bill on this occasion. I had seen the campsite next to Grafham Water but it doesnt have tent pitches, otherwise it wouldve been perfect. Its looking like we will have to find a campsite which is 'near' to all the caches but not within walking distance.

Thanks for your help and the links.
