+badger10
When I was stationed in Germany they served fries with mayo. If you asked for ketchup you would get a funny look! Very nice coin! Quote Link to comment
+nevadanick
When I was stationed in Germany they served fries with mayo. If you asked for ketchup you would get a funny look! Very nice coin! Very common in many European countries. Found the same in Amsterdam when we were there in the 90's. They had a name for it, but can't recall. I'm sure someone from there could post what they call it. Also very true about the ketchup. Someone warned us not to even ask - lol. Quote Link to comment
+woejam
In the Netherlands Mayonaise is most common. When you order, you just ask for 'Frietje met' translated with 'Fries with'. No need to add that you want mayo. But also common is curry. That is a red ketchup sause with herbs. By the way, the taste of the mayo in the Netherlands is really different from the one in belgium. There are all kind of funny names for fries sause combinations. When you are in the Netherlands, you can try them all ;-) But then you have to do also a lot of long multi caches, because it is not really healthy food..... Quote Link to comment

Don't know when and where you were here in Germany but as long as I can think Ketchup is also very common on fries . Very common is also a combination of mayo and ketchup which is called "Pommes-Rot-Weiss" Quote Link to comment
