wandering4cache
Recently discovered someones Iraqi Freedom geocoin. My husband came back earlier this year from a year in Afghanistan. Wondered if there was an Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) geocoin I could buy for him. Googled & I can't seem to find one. All these years we have been in Afghanistan fighting OEF and no one has designed a geocoin yet? Edited December 15, 2012 by wandering4cache Quote Link to comment

Droo
I think you're barking at the wrong tree.... try the challenge coins. Quote Link to comment
wandering4cache
yes, we know about challenge coins. He has MANY. Was hoping to find a geocoin since there is an Iraqi Freedom Geocoin. Don't believe I am barking up the wrong tree for asking if there is such a geocoin and asking here. Quote Link to comment
drneal
none that I know of, or could find...perhaps it would be a good opportunity for you to design such a coin. ILYK Quote Link to comment
nevadanick
none that I know of, or could find...perhaps it would be a good opportunity for you to design such a coin. The coins / pins site still has Iraqi Freedom geocoins (in gold) for sale. The antique copper ones were discontinued (unknown/unexplained reason). Best guess, since some are still left, is that they were not good/great selling coins. Minters and dealers do have to consider profitability regardless of the basis for a coin. Afghanistan has not been the most popular of areas even taking into account the losses and bravery our troops have faced there. Challenge coins can do much better since the cost is somewhat less due to no tracking code costs, no approvals by outside sources, no cost of icons, etc. As well as there being a larger audience of potential buyers for military oriented challenge coins. You would probably get a more accurate (honest ?) indicator if you contacted the original minter by e-mail or through their website support contact. Quote Link to comment
