Clan Riffster
Something I see on occasion are power poles, utility fixtures, and the like, with a numerical address affixed to them, yet there is nothing there which might warrant such an address. I find this very odd, but assume it's done so the surrounding municipality can keep track of it? Thoughts? Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
In my town every lot is assigned an address. If it's an empty lot it has one. Maybe the address is posted on them for use of emergency services. Also in the the nearby city owns all the utilities so all the lightpoles, power poles and such are each assigned a unique number. That way They can say light XYZ is out. They look it up and see it's an LED light. They know exactly where it is and what's needed to fix it. Quote Link to comment
+silverquill
I just can't see this as a very interesting category, if that is a proposal. These would also seem to be subject to change. Then, if you want to make this a truly global category, there is the problem of widely different numbering systems and procedures from region to region, country to country. Quote Link to comment
+Maconb
many larger electric companies number there poles to be placed in a grid map. This helps in being able to find outages quickly. You can see the same type of numbers on telephone pedestals as well. Quote Link to comment
