+johnbarber
I have just picked up an etrex 30 and wanted to get the ram mount for it but have found out that you can't use the usb power cord at the same time. Any other owners out there have any suggestions on how to use this unit with a ram mount and use the power option. Garmin does not appear to have a mount for this unit. Thanks for any help. MtnHermit
I got one of the Garmin mounts for my eTrex in 2007, total waste. Vibrated badly and way too small. For under a $100 you can get a Nuvi with maps, mount and 12V cord. My $0.02. Quote Link to comment

The display and prompts are way too small for safe turn by turn routing at highway speeds. If you are using it for driving, let your passenger read the directions to you. Quote Link to comment
+johnbarber
I am not using it for nuvi style navigation, just want to use it for caching. Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
If it is running down the batteries you are worried about the lithium will last a very long time and actually amortize out as less expensive than the cheaper akaline. Then there are rechargeables which after initial purpose cost nothing. Then you wouldn't need the usb cord. Quote Link to comment
+BlackRose67
I have an eTrex 20 and use a RAM mount, but I don't use it with USB power. I have a set of Duracell Pre-Charged/Stay Charged NiMh batteries that I use with it. I get about a week on a pair of cells with moderate auto and geocaching use. Quote Link to comment
