Mr.Yuck
Anyone know the status of this site. I was unable to connect to it yesterday or today. It's not just you. Call me paranoid, but that could be a hijack, or some kind of hostile domain name redirect. I wouldn't click on any of those links on the page. Quote Link to comment
+jellis
Wow I haven't checked this site in a long time. After seeing this I looked and all I got was a white page. Quote Link to comment
+jellis
Well until it's back up you can use this for the top 1000 or more http://www.zinnware.com/HighAdv/Geocaching/most_caches_found.php Quote Link to comment
Mr.Yuck
Good thing I replied before A-Team got back here. I think he/she purposely posted that link, and I don't think there are any malicious links on it. I have no clue what is going on here, the domain name cacherstats.com doesn't expire until 2013. They may very well have been hacked. But don't take my word for it, I'm sure an expert will come along soon. Me, I just play an expert on the internet. Quote Link to comment

So I guess my good news is that it isn't me only not connecting, the bad news is nobody else either and nobody seem to know at this point why. Quote Link to comment
+Grand High Pobah
Hi all. Sorry for the late reply. I am the keeper of Cacherstats. The web hosting company took the website down because of excessive resource consumption. After some anaylsis, it was determined that a bot was beating up on the site so we are now atempting to put an end to the bot caused problems. We thought we had it all taken care of but for some reason, the stand in page cannot be removed. Their tech support staff has been trying to resolve that issue since midday Saturday. Hopefully we will get things under control soon. Quote Link to comment
Mr.Yuck
8:00 AM (EST) Monday morning, and it's back. See, I'm not an expert. at the time the thread was started though, cacherstats was pretty much showing up as a classic expired domain type of web page. Except there was no picture of the blonde girl with a backpack. I'm down to No. 141 in New York State. When that website was started, I was in the top 30. Friggin' obsessed fanatics. +Grand High Pobah
I am happy to report that Cacherstats.com is back up and running. Some of the data is a little out of sync but right now the goal is to identify the true source of the problem and to provide solutions that will keep the problem from reoccuring. I will try to keep you informed about what is going on with posts here. The ultimate solution may be down the road a piece, but proper solutions will be found. Ya all have fun and go find some caches for me to count. Quote Link to comment

I think he/she purposely posted that link, and I don't think there are any malicious links on it. Nope, nothing at all malicious about it. That site (www.Downforeveryoneorjustme.com) is a handy way to check if a website is genuinely down, or if the problem is with your computer. It will attempt to access the website in question, and tell you whether or not it was able to successfully get to it. At the time I posted that link, it reported that cacherstats.com was indeed down.
