referenceError: $ is not defined

Hello!

Since today I got the error message:

referenceError: $ is not defined

on the www.geocaching.com website. The error message appears when I try to decrypt a hint. The logs are not present on the site, too. If I try to open a log it didn’t work.

I used for testing Firefox 10.0.1, Opera 11.61, Internet Explorer 8.0 and Chrome 17.0. In Firefox and Opera I cleared the cache. Internet Explorer and Chrome are new installed and never used before.

What can I do to decrypt the hints and to see the logs again?

Thanks for your help!

I have this problem too !

Its not possible, to get the decryption of a hint.

No logs are shown.

No maps on the right of the listing.

And the worst: I can't open the small tabs on the top of the site.

Clicking on the little arrows opens the first link, but not the dropdown-menue.

For Example: A click on "PLAY" opens the "Hide&Seek-Page", what shall do, if I want to log some trackables?

Same Problem here:

- I updated my seurity-software

- disabled Greasemonkey

- reloaded different Listings

-> error comes up trying to decrypt hints and no logs at all......

The problem ist gone.

I add the ending .aspx to the allow-list of Avira-Guard.

At first it doesn't work, but now, some hours later every thing is allright.

I don't know, if Avira himself finished the problem or Groundspeak, or waiting some time helped.

Now I'm happy :D

That could not be the solution, a lot of pages are .aspx, even at gc.com and they are all working well. But neither maps and logs do, nor "recent activity" on the homepage. To mee, it looks like some scripting prob, cause all of this dynamic generated content stuff is affected.

I still can't see anything of them...and I have no possibility to change antivir config while it is centrally administrated.

Thanks for all the interessting replies. Yesterday I it works all fine. :D I didn't do anything. So I think it was an program error on the website or database.

Hello? Is anyone doing anything about this? There are no replies...

This isn't a thread about whining and complaing about how crappy the maps are (which they are) it is about the site NOT WORKING!!!

I want to know what is being done!

gardengorilla, this is not something that is happening for very many people, likely indicating that it is something having to do with the client rather than the website itself. Please send an email to contact@geocaching.com for personalized support; the forums are better suited to site-wide issues.

And, now it's working again. Hmm. but it isn't just me and it happens everytime there is an update. It must be a setting or something I guess. This is the longest it has happened for so I was getting frustrated.

All is good now, for the time being.
