+SoonerL8R
Hello fellow cachers! I'm fairly new to this and just bought a 60csx and have figured out how to transfer straight cache files with included usb cord. My question is how do I get benchmark loc files on my device as I searched near my residence and have upwards of 100 but don't really want to have to write all the coordinates down. Can I do it with my cable or maybe I need to install my memory card and save it that way? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Quote Link to comment
+LSUFan
Welcome to benchmarking. It is a little different than geocaching, but can be more rewarding. I recommend reading the me first tutorials.....especially the difference between scaled vs adjusted coordinates. There are also several ways to download the datasheets directly from the NGS and put them in your gps units. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=113335 I have gathered much of the information, along with software links, gleaned from these forums and fellow benchmarkers. I tried to place a lot of it here: http://www.nelageo.net/index.php/forum/13-benchmarking-and-related-topics/6841-benchmark-101 http://www.nelageo.net/index.php/forum/13-benchmarking-and-related-topics/12706-benchmarking-with-a-nuvi http://www.nelageo.net/index.php/forum/13-benchmarking-and-related-topics/12633-ngs-gpx-datasheet-conversion-programand-gsak Edited December 18, 2011 by LSUFan Quote Link to comment
+dukeofurl01
I think that GSAK will read .loc files. What that means is that you will import the .loc files into the program GSAK, and then hook up your GPS with the cable, and then export the points from GSAK directly to your GPS.
