+FolsomNatural
How far away from the actual cache does one fix the place-holder coordinates for a puzzle cache? Are there guidelines for that distance? Most of the ones I've worked with are within half a mile of the end GZ target. It that a requirement? And if so, where is it posted? Thanks in advance. Two to three miles, if memory serves correct... Came in to try to keep TB/Coin mileages 'close' to their correct mileages. Edit! http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=308 For many caches of this type, the coordinates listed are not of the actual cache location but a general reference point, such as a nearby parking location. The posted coordinates should be no more than 1-2 miles (2-3 km) away from the true cache location. This allows the cache to show up on the appropriate vicinity searches and keeps the mileage of Trackables that pass through the cache reasonably accurate. +kunarion
It that a requirement? Some have specially distant coordinates being integral to the puzzle. So there are exceptions. Quote Link to comment

And some older puzzle caches were placed before the 2-mile guideline was added, and are grandfathered. Quote Link to comment
