martinrachel
Hi everyone, I am looking to buy a gps device so that my girlfriend and I can have a go at geocaching. Ive got up to £150 to spend but am unsure about which device is best. Is it possible to use a car sat nav? Would appreciate any advice. Thanx, Martin. Quote Link to comment

+Bear and Ragged
Worth taking a read of http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk Specifically http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk/resources/gps.html#types Decide what you want it to do/not do. Maps/no maps. (There are free versions, see the talkytoaster thread on the UK and Ireland forum, if you want mapping, but don't want to pay out in one go) Also worth asking on the UK and Ireland forum, where most of the UK cachers hang out. +eusty
For £150 your best bet would be a Dakota 10, but if you can stretch a bit more then a Dakota 20 would be better as it has an SD card slot. There is also ebay for used ones? Quote Link to comment
+CacheFreakTim
I second the Dakota 20 for that price. Defiantly amazing GPS that does almost everything. Quote Link to comment
