+Kelt.
Hi, I just got a Geomate Jr Cache finder, and was wondering ahead of time if anyone knows whether it is absolutely necessary to use the proprietary cable kit for updating. We all know the pain of multiple cable formats and I for one resist purchasing yet another cable for my tech stuff if it is actually in the same format as my camera sync cable or my phone charger/sync cable. So, has anyone used a standard (non-proprietary) connection cable to update their GeomateJr? Quote Link to comment
+CacheFreakTim
Yes you need to use the official Geomate update kit/USB cable for updating. In addition to being just a USB cable there is electronics in the cable that does the transferring magic.....this was one of the things that the designers stated they had to put in the cable to keep the GPS price so low. DandeloJo
So I wonder, can you use one update kit/cable for 2 Geomates? I want 2 Geomates but don't want to buy 2 cables, I hate the tech cable clutter. Quote Link to comment

This is a huge benefit for people or a class room with multiple Geomates....you only need to buy one update kit. Quote Link to comment
