MtnHermit
No reviews yet but at $15 I thought I'd take a fly. I'll post a review in this thread in a few weeks. Just got back from a 3-day backpack in the La Garita Wilderness, my Oregon 450, on battery saver mode, was saying batteries low as I saved my last screenshots at the trail head. Here's the purchase link. Quote Link to comment

+ecanderson
Sadly, that review is spot on. Kodak's own own press release says "Achieves full charge in 14 hours via USB-in, 28 hours via sunlight...". 28 hours of direct sun for two 2500mAh cells (or two 2100mAh cells, depending upon where you read your reviews) probably isn't going to satisfy the requirements of very many potential customers. It's too bad, but no fault of Kodak apart from assuming there was going to be much of a market for this gadget -- you can only get so much power from that many square inches of solar cell with the technology as it is today. For those who are curious, the 'hard' spec on the charge current from this device shows "20-90 mA" via Solar ( http://resources.kodak.com/support/pdf/en/manuals/accessories/ks100/KS100_EN.pdf ). +kentwoodkrew
While we are on the subject what about the chargers here http://www.solarmade.com/batterychargers.htm I see they have PHOTOVOLTAIC'S (EIPV) MODULES. How insane a project would it be make your own charger with one of those? Quote Link to comment
