+chrispt
So, I bought the Android app mostly to support the folks at GC.com. I want to like it, but it is too flaky. I've posted some comments in the support forum for it. I go to access offline lists, and it crashes. I go to navigate to a cache and it crashes. Hopefully they are sorting the bugs out right now. +gardengirlslovedirt
Hmmm... I just downloaded the same to my new Android and it seems to be working after 2 days of waiting for it to kick in, but now I can't send to phone off of my log-in/Hide and seek screen. Did you get yours to work yet? Quote Link to comment
Keystone
I am moving this thread from the Geocaching Topics forum to the GPS and Technology forum. Quote Link to comment
+kwcahart
I use it on my new Motorola Atrix, no problems that I know of except I think the free x:xxx works better. Quote Link to comment
+baloo&bd
What phone are you using? I know some of the phones have issues that are a problem with the phone, i.e. the new Thunderbolt has a force close issues with several apps, including but not limited to the GC app. Quote Link to comment

I've replied in the support forum, but will post again here. My install was working fine but has started exhibitting the same problem (possibly following an attempt to abort an import). I've found that if I set the app to have it's database location on the phone rather than the sd card the offline lists work. Is there anyway in the app to clear an offline list? I've just discovered a way to apparently fix the problem. Here's what I did... 1)kill the geocaching app, 2)go in to a file manager (I use ES File Explorer by EStrongs), 3)go to the geocaching folder on the sdcard - for me this is /sdcard/Geocaching 4)remove any .db file(s) - for me there were 2, one called 'long string of hexidecimal'.db and 'same long string of hex'.db-journal. I moved these 2 files into a new folder called 'old', just in case... 5)run the app and import a gps file from sd - this should create a new .db file with the same name as before. Try using the offlinf list and hopefully everything should work. It now does for me. I have a rooted phone with FROYO (but I don't know if this makes a difference, I doubt it) Good luck, Duncan Quote Link to comment
+-OZZ-
The android app is working great on my Motorola Xoom tablet with no crashing so far. I'm not sure how the additional Waymarking works as loading directions up in the compass screen only loads the new co-ords into the compass but none of the text associated with the waymark is displayed (for example clues for a puzzle). Logging onto the website the additional waymarks display co-ords and associated text. Also some of the dialoge boxes have black text on a black background which makes it illegible. +kwcahart
I retract my earlier statement about the official app. I used it today to find four caches, it took me right to them one absolutely within one foot! I was very impressed with it today. They just did an update on the app, maybe that is why it worked so well for me today. I use a Motorola Atrix 4G phone. Quote Link to comment
+chrispt
Moving the database back to the phone seemed to help a lot. It was crashing all the time when I had the database on the SD card. Quote Link to comment
robertlipe
Questions/issues o the app from Groundspeak should be directed to their support group listed at the top of the forum. Closing thread. Quote Link to comment
