Search by cache NUMBER

If you're talking about the GC number, the search box on the main page lets you do that. In addition to that, this page is still unchanged: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/default.aspx'>http://www.geocaching.com/seek/default.aspx

Is this the home page you are referring to?

http://www.geocaching.com/

If so I do not see any access to searching via the cache GCxxxxx.

How did you access the page you refer to above?

Yes, there. You see that little search box on the left? Under "step 1 - browse"? Just put the GC code in there.

The other page is in the menu under Play / Hide & seek a cache.

Yes it's available in step 1... but I've noticed that since you only get two answers there... sometimes you don't get what you are looking for, often searching any term won't bring it up... and while most GC# seem to find the cache, I've had a few that get totally unrelated answers, other than containing the letters/numbers requested in some order or other, but neither answer is the cache, and nothing you do will get any other answers than the first two wrong ones. No problems at all with the hide n seek page though.

I suspect teething problems with the 'box' for browsing.

Edit: I did some more investigation into that front box. ONE of my tries there involved a GC# that was emailed to me. I cut and pasted it into the front box (1) and got two place names that were similar to the request. It turns out that the GC# I got had a typo inside... an O for a zero... thus the search seems to have been better than I thought. When the correction was applied to the box, I got the correct cache page... Interesting to note, that a further confusion came when originally I took the same cut and paste and placed that in the Hide n seek page search by GC number box and it went thru properly even with the OH. That led me to believe the GC# was correct in the first place. There remains the 2 answer limit problem since you MIGHT not fall in the first two listings and simply miss it. On the other hand serious seekers would likely use the Hide n Seek page. Hope this is clear.
