+SeekerOfTheWay
I used my Colorado on a longer cache hike today. Near the GZ (150 feet) I noticed that I started getting further away from the cache even though I was still following the red line. I turned and headed so that distance was lessening and I noticed I was now following the blue arrow? What do the two mean? I thought the red arrow was the one to watch? Quote Link to comment
+kwcahart
You have your Garmin set to "CDI". Set it to "Bearing", that will fix your problem. I can't remember what the sequence is to do that, but that will fix it. Quote Link to comment

Your compass is set to display the Course Deviation Indicator (CDI), as the post above mentions. Go to Setup/Heading/ and set it to Bearing instead. Quote Link to comment
+SeekerOfTheWay
Thanks for the advice guys, but I can't find that setting. I go to Setup/Heading and I see: Display North Reference Compass Nothing about bearing. Edited November 30, 2010 by SeekerOfTheWay Quote Link to comment
Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hide
Thanks for the advice guy, but I can't find that setting. I go to Setup/Heading and I see: Display North Reference Compass Nothing about bearing. Compass, Bearing then. I was basing my response on the Oregon I have here and it may be different or I may have forgotten one step. Just checked my Oregon again and the selection on it which allows the CDI/Bearing choice is called "Go to Line / Pointer". Edited November 30, 2010 by Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hide Quote Link to comment
+kwcahart
Try one of those three until you find an option for "bearing" versus CDI or something else. Whatever the options are set it to Bearing, that will help you a bunch. Quote Link to comment
+SeekerOfTheWay
I have a Heading setting. Cannot find anything about CDI or bearing buy I'll keep looking. Thanks! Quote Link to comment

+SeekerOfTheWay
What should North Reference be set to? True Magnetic Grid User Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
True works best - since the datum you are using works along those lines. If you wanted your longitude to stay steady while you walked north against the compass, for example, that's the only way it would work. Quote Link to comment
+kwcahart
On my Oregon 450 it is: push on (setup push on (heading push on (Go To Line/Pointer then pick 1: bearing (large) 2: bearing (small) 3: Course (CDI) After you choose one the Go to Line/Pointer will read: Go To Line/Pointer Bearing (small) or (large) For geocaching 2 or 3 are the best choices.
