Garmin 62s PQ?

Recommended Posts

HI I have a Mac and I searched the forum for Mac related questions but they didn't solve my problem... I received a PQ by email. I thought I could download it and drag it to the GPX file on my Garmin by using the finder windows, and it does go in there, but when I try to open or unzip it is says no application for opening (or something) Can anyone help me please? I am traveling and would like to try a PQ because I do not know the area at all. Thanks!

You need to uncompress the zipped file first it on your computer then put the expanded file(s) file in your GPX folder of the gps.

Ok Thanks I just tried that. Maybe I am not putting it in the correct folder int eh Garmin. Here's what I did, I purchased WINZIP, opened the file from my email & I think I unzipped it correctly, it saved it in my Finder. Then I dragged it to the GPX folder in my Garmin, but when I unhook my Garmin & try to see the files they are not on it. Please continue to help is you can!

You can expand your GPX files while it is still hooked to the MAC? That way you could tell if your click and drag worked before you disconnect. You have to be right on the file name before it will load, and you should get a message telling you it is transferring the files. I don't use a MAC but this is the way it works on my Oregon 450T and a PC. You do have to unzip the files first.

Can't help you will the Mac either but on a PC when you unzip you end up with 2 files. One is caches and the other is waypoints (parking, trailhead, etc). Do you get 2 files? Another option is to uncheck the compress pocket query at the bottom of the Pocket Query. That way you won't have to uncompress it and can just copy and paste them in the gpx folder.
