Can I use my 76Cx as a GPS receiver w/ Streets and Trips?

Can I use my Garmin GPSmap 76Cx as a GPS receiver with Microsoft Streets and Trips? I have updated the firmware and the USB drivers and still when I try to scan for available ports in Streets & Trips, it doesn't see the 76Cx.

 

Any ideas?

You aren't too clear how you're hooking it up but you mention USB drivers. If you're using your USB cable it's not going to work, you need the data cable.

Or you could try Spanner to create a virtual com port.

tried Spanner, but it's naturally not compatible with Vista. Frustrating Garmin. And my laptop doesn't have a serial port, just USB, and of course I expected the USB port to work.

Yes, you can make it work with the USB cable. Look up Fransons GPSGate.
