+Panther&Pine
Does Groundspeak keep any backups of Geocache information??? Yes, in the sense that nothing is ever deleted. Archived files just don't display. That includes logs. That is good data managment, and that is really what they do. Quote Link to comment
Skippermark
The short answer is, "Yes." For more info check out Jeremy's blog post from the day after the Fisher Plaza Data Center fire, which was where the Groundspeak servers were housed. It offers some good reading. Quote Link to comment
+Jeepster++
Does Groundspeak keep any backups of Geocache information??? The geocache database is essential to their business. Without it, all they'd have is a few tee shirts and hats. You can bet your last dollar they have backups! Quote Link to comment
+WestSideDaddy
I think the real question is "Why do you ask about their backups?" Quote Link to comment

In case my computer crashes and I loose data about my caches... or if Groundspeak servers crashed or something... IDK I just wanted to know whether or not I should have backups of my cache info on my computer... Quote Link to comment

Easiest way is just to download the GPX file from each of your caches (assuming you're a PM). That will have all the info you need. Edited August 27, 2010 by Prime Suspect Quote Link to comment

If you value your data - ANY of your data - you should be backing it up yourself and not depending upon someone else to do it. Groundspeak is only backing up the data you have provided. If you have other data about your caches (notes, info on how to solve the puzzle, where you bought the stuff you put in it, etc.) it's up to you to be backing it up. Quote Link to comment
