+ras_oscar
Recently suffered a few runins with bees and wasps. Had a first aid kit that included lidocaine wipes. Does anyone know where I can find repalcement wipes, or a product containing lidocaine that is safe for OTC use? I have read that lidocaine is usually used in a hospital in injectable form, so not sure if this is really the active ingredient I should be looking for. Quote Link to comment

That's what they do. Quote Link to comment
Clan Riffster
Survival Metrics carries the AfterCuts brand wipes, which have Lidocaine in them. Quote Link to comment
+Team Cotati
Non-allergic victims will almost always develop local reactions to bee stings. Redness, swelling, and pain are all common at the site of the bee sting. The pain will usually go away pretty quickly, but swelling may last for more than a day. Use an ice pack to reduce swelling at the site. It's common to develop some itching at the bee sting site. Antihistamines or calamine lotion should help. Quote Link to comment
+bittsen
Quick relief from a bee sting (or insect bite) can be obtained by rubbing a little Orajel on the spot. If it's safe enough to be used in your mouth then it's likely safe enough for topical use. It contains Benzocaine which is closely related to novacaine. Quote Link to comment
+reddeeps
I am no expert but think thats the active ingredient in alot of "piles" cream Quote Link to comment
+dbrierley
I haven't used them, but Safetec produces them. Many other products use benzocaine as a pain reliever. Quote Link to comment
knowschad
According to this : Benzocaine is usually found in products for sunburn and sore gums. Lidocaine is usually hard to find in over-the-counter products, because it is much stronger and causes anesthesia deeper in the skin. More: benzocaine vs lidocaine Quote Link to comment
+ras_oscar
Did a little more research. Apparently there are creams containing as much as 4% lidocaine that are not on the shelf but OTC and are used to prepare for tattooing. Perhaps I'll get me one of those geoching tattoos Quote Link to comment
