PAPERLESS GARMIN

Does anyone know how to get all the info and clues into a garmin nuvi1350. I can get the co-ordinates into favourites but can't get all the other info. Any advice would be appreciated. Hopefully it is possible with this model.

Thankyou

You can TRY this link:

Your model of Nuvi isn't listed under the "what do I need to begin" section, but the date at the top of the page is from 2008 so it still might work.

I used that link for my Nuvi 205W and it works great!

Thanks for that but I have already tried that site with no success. Had all the info in GSAK but when I sent it to gps only co-ordinates went across. Thanks again.

I started with the 255w nuvi and now use the 1350 nuvi. I load them in as a POI, using the POI Loader from Garmin. The file type you will need to make is a "*.CSV" file. There is some software that will convert it for you. So far I have not found one that I like so I do it myself. It takes time but I get what I want, they way I like it.

You will discover that you can download thousands and thousands of cache files in to your Nuvi and it won't take up much room but don't do it. The info about caches change so fast with updates, temp disables, archives and new caches, to keep it current would be a part time job. Why work when you can play.

You have to follow all the instructions. Once you run the macro in GSAK to export the data, you must use Garmin's POI Loader software to load the data to the unit as Custom POIs.

Naw. I update my Gupy every week. Doesn't take very long! Update the nuvi every other week. That's current enough for me. Yup! Got ten thousand caches loaded in both!

The macro works. You have to follow it exactly, and know how to troubleshoot if things go wrong.

If you describe your system and what you're doing, we may be able to help.

If you take a Groundspeak GPX and feed it to POI Loader, you'll only get coordinates, none of the juicy stuff.

I update mine about once every week or two. Current enough for me, not much work. The alternative is a smart phone ($$$) or not having the info. I'd say it is totally worth it, for hardly any work.

I spent an hour following the instructions twice with no success. Used the POI loader and double checked the steps countless times. Only the basic stuff went across as if it was a loc file. The info went into extras on the Garmin under custom POIs but only the co-ordinates and the name of the cache. FRUSTRATING Might uninstall everything and try again with a fresh mind. My operating system is xp and I followed the steps on this website http://geocaching.totaltechworld.com/

Appreciate the help

If you look in this forum ( http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=12382 ) , the 8th post down from the top, jjreds says the Nuvi 1300 series is supported in the new version 7.7.1

And the new version they are talking about is in the first post in that forum, or you can follow this link

http://sites.google.com/site/jjreds012/download

and click the link under step 6 where it says Download latest version here

I have not tried this though, since I am using a Nuvi 205W and the link in my original post is all i needed to make it work.

Good Luck

Like everyone has already said, this place is great. I'll admit, it took a few tries, I had to start over a few times to get it to work. Some advice:

-follow it step by step

-don't skip ahead

-don't rush through it.

-DO NOT "start fresh" by formatting your gps. I uh... have a friend *cough cough* who got frustrated and did this... took a week to get my, er... her maps back

good luck!

The funniest part of the tutorial is where it says it will take you 20 minutesto get it up and running! It took me several days of working on it, but the hangups were usually because I didn't follow the directions exactly.

Here's my only addition to what's been said: If you still can't get it to work, it might be worth a few bucks to buy the cheapest Nuvi 2xx you can find and set the macro up for that one. Then you can use that as your road gps when you're caching, or put it in a hard case and use it instead of a pda in the field.
