Mezgrman
Hi, I just thought about an indicator on profile pages that tells one if this user is currently online, like this: This would be very useful if you want to send an e-mail so that you know you will probably get a fast response. What do you think? Mezgrman Link to comment
BruceS
The site does not know if you are online, it only knows that last time you did some activity on the site. It does not know if I accessed the site and immediately closed out or whether I sit with the site open all day long. Link to comment
Mezgrman
But the site does know whether you are logged in or not, doesn't it? On the forums there is such an indicator, below the user informations on each post... so it would be possible to do something like that on the geocaching profile page, too! Link to comment
Gitchee-Gummee
From what I have seen, many never log off (the forums). Link to comment
Mezgrman
From what I have seen, many never log off (the forums). OK, but won't you be logged off automatically on geocaching.com if you don't do anything for let's say 20 minutes? Link to comment
Xaa
Nope. They don't know. Just like the forumpages. The information you see only means that someone has done something on that page recently (perhaps also that they didn't do anything else on other pages) Furthermore: the people where I think it might be useful if they could see me being online or vice versa already have more than enough options of seeing it. For the rest of the world, I don't see any reason why they'd have to know that. It doesn't mean anything about me reading mail or not, so patience is required anyway. Link to comment
Markwell
My login cookies stay active for about 2 or 3 weeks, even if I don't do anything on the site. If I do something on the site, it's even longer. The best bet is "last logged on" Link to comment
MtnLioness
It IS possible, they just simply are saying in a nice way that they WILL NOT do it cos they see no good reason for it. Link to comment
