+vancox
I have 205 caches that I want to download to my new Magellan GPS unit. However it seems I can only download 1 at a time from the geocaching.com website. If I click the checkbox in the second to last column, there seems to be no way to then download them all at once. What am I missing? I feel like it's a simple answer that I am totally missing. Thanks ahead of time for any help! Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Pocket Queries are your friend!! Here is a great tutorial: http://www.markwell.us/pq.htm Quote Link to comment
+smitty19983
Had the same question a week ago, and PQ's are pretty simple. Quote Link to comment
+vancox
Hmm, Easy GPS and Expert GPS don't support my GPS unit. I'll just go back to manually downloading them. It's not as horrible as I thought. Thank you so much for your replies!! Quote Link to comment

+janX9
Which unit do you have?? We can probably suggest something.... I had a similar question that vancox has... Is there an Easy way to get all the caches in one city with Pocket Queries? I am familiar with PQ's, but they only allow for 1000 caches on a radius of 10 km (6.21 miles). So in my city that has over 2200 caches in an area of 265 sq miles, I have to create 5 or 6 PQ's just to get them all. I'm assuming that is the only way to get them all, and I am doing it right. If this really is the case, and I am doing it right, then I think it would be cool if there was a dedicated thread here at Groundspeak that had download links to all caches in all city's around the world that was updated regularly. That would be so handy, one easy download for your own city janX Magellan eXplorist GC Quote Link to comment
+Auberdine
Use GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) at www.gsak.net. It is, hands down, the best geocaching tool out there. You have your own database of the caches, can add filters and so much more. Quote Link to comment
+SWAK9802
I use GSAK for my Magellan unit and it works great. It has made downloading caches to my unit so much easier and faster. Quote Link to comment

It's not as horrible as I thought. Thank you so much for your replies!! I don't need Easy or Expert GPS? I download my PQ's to my PC, connect my GPS to the PC which shows up as a drive where I can drag & drop what I want. Also, when logging, you can access your GPS's log file through your profile page. I use Magellan eXplorist GC. It wasn't in the drop down list for either Easy GPS and Expert GPS. But I have a friend with the same unit and she said she just downloads the file and then drags and drops (like the above poster mentioned) and that worked perfectly for me. Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
I use GPSBabel to download caches to the gps. There's a dropdown menu...and Magellan Explorist looks to be supported. http://www.gpsbabel.org/ Quote Link to comment

Hit the checkbox in the header (or the "check all" button) then hit "Download waypoints" This will give you much more than 1 at a time. Nowhere near as good as pocket queries, but I have done this to download ~500 geocaches near my house. From there I used GSAK to load them on my GPSr and away I go. Of course, this doesn't give you the log information or cache information, but I use the iPhone app for that anyways. Quote Link to comment
+fallyn
I use EasyGPS and I have an old magellan (meridian), and this works so great! First I locate the central coordinates of the area I want to hunt. Then I go to pocket queries and name my query associated with that area. I pick "today's" date so I will receive my query immediately. Then I pick the number of caches I want included, usually 500 because I can save this query on my computer for future use. Then I scroll down to "from origin" and pick a central cache for the coordinates. Output to my email address and bam I get a zip file with all the caches in that area. Now with EasyGPS, I go to "edit" "preferences" and select "geocaching" and change it to geocache name (my preference to hunt but name instead on GC). I also go into the tools and select the list columns and adjust to my preference. Then upload it to my gps. Its magic! Then I print a copy and it will tell me size of cache, hint, location and who placed it. This printout also makes it easy to check off the finds/didn't find, for logging. With EasyGPS you can also log right through the application. Edited July 23, 2010 by fallyn Quote Link to comment
