  1. Just saw that same bike on American Picker a few days ago. They were pumped to pick it for sure. NICE!
  2. Thanks peeps- This is exactly the feed back that I needed. I could see the critter being lost, and then replacing it only to find out we now have 2 out in the trails. That would could turn into a real nightmare. I do think that all the local cachers would do a great job of recording the new coords and hiding the critter. As for the additional logging requirement. What if the critter portion was an option. You don't have to find the critter but you can if you want. If you find him, you are free to move him if you want. If you would rather just find the Ammo box with all the info, that would be cool also. If this is a horrible and unusable idea, please let me know.
  3. The actual cache would never move. Only the critter whose coords will be in the actual cache would move. Then when someone finds the cache, they move the critter and both post the coords of the critter and physically write them on the log book. This way if I find it and move the critter and you show up 5 min. later you can find the cache then hunt the critter.
  4. The cache would play out as follows. It would be a basic cache. Hidden with coords. and description, etc. The change would come once you get to the cache. When you arrive at the cache, you would find a set of coord. (similar to a multi) that would direct you to the critter cache (ceramic frog, turtle, etc.) After you find the critter you are allowed to move it and hide it within a certain area (the place I am thinking is a small trail system with in my town). The catch is that you would need to return to the original cache and leave the new coordinates for the next person to find the critter. The idea would be to keep moving the critter and give people a chance to hide a cache/practice finding coordinates. You would obviously only get credit for the first cache but it could really end up being a fun adventure. All this would need to be well written out on both the cache description and in the actual cache. I would also need to make a special log book that would have spots for Name, Date, New Coordinates of the Critter. Legal or not? Cool idea or been done before and lame?
  5. If the email was one that was generated by this website when the reviewer posted a reviewer note on your cache page, your reply to it will go nowhere. The reviewer will never see it. Most reviewers will mention their preferred method of communication, usually directly via e-mail or through notes on the cache page (all notes are automatically deleted when the cache is published). If your reviewer did not specify a mode of communication you can contact him directly through his profile. Thanks for the info. After removing two of the caches, the other 3 were posted. Great little park in my town no has 3 quality geocaches and a better reason to be outside walking around.
  6. Double-G Apology accepted. I to was probably in the wrong for blasting at you. Often times things are read out of context on forums. The emotion con at the end of you post should have been all the clue I needed to know that you were not trying to belittle me.
  7. Keystone and Touchstone, thanks for the help. I will try to make the best of this bad situation. I really am sorry that I broke the rules and posted the Cache incorrectly. I really did attempted to do fix the problem. GG, thanks for making me feel worse about the entire situation. I am sure you have never made a mistake when you were brand new at something. All the caches in the weird shaped park in the middle of town were posted. I really think that people will enjoy all three of the caches. They are all unique to my area and actually well planned out. It should be a treat to people to go to one place and find 3 caches vs. the norm in our area of driving parking caching, then driving to the next.
  8. So I hid my first few caches. Problem was that I violated the 528 foot rule. So only one of my caches was posted. I went back to the park and removed a couple of the caches in the middle of the park. The three that are left should be more then 600 feet apart. I changed the logs to read 3 caches instead of 5. My question is this? How do I get the 2 other caches posted? I have tried to reply to the e-mails that I received about the cache, but have had no luck. Any info would be thankful. Thanks Smitty
  9. Also just started using the 450. Seems like a pretty nice unit. The only problem I currently have is loading my logs to the website. I am forced to upload, then view each of them to post them. Seems easier to just go to the site and do it that way. I am sure I am missing something that would make it much more simple. Good luck. They are correct on the compass. I like to use the map until I get close. (plan on installing Navigation), then when it tells me that I have arrived at the cache, I switch to the compass.
  10. Had the same question a week ago, and PQ's are pretty simple.
  11. Anybody have help with the uploading of logs/field notes. I am able to get them to the geocaching web-site, but then I am forced to view each one and hit submit. Seems like there has to be a way to upload several in a single click. Thanks in Advance Smitty
  12. Thanks for the lead. I will check it out.
  13. Thanks for all the help. I finally got the chance to grab some Caches with the Oregon. Worked as good as expected if not maybe a little better. My next question, if I download "city navigation" will my caches still show up and be able to navigate directly to them. That is another killer feature of the Droid. I can open a map it shows caches close, click on a cache, pick navigate, turn by turn and she tell me how to get there. I know Oregon will not talk, but seeing turns would be all I really need in most cases. Getting notes off GPS and on to website. I followed the directions from the site above, problem was that I still had to go into each note/log and submit them on the website to get them to show up. Thanks again. Smitty
  14. Thanks a ton. My wife and I were able to figure out the PQ method (Well she was. ). Does anyone know if there is a thread specifically for QA about the Garmin 450? It might be good to link all the threads dealing with that specific GPS into a single thread. If there is, please direct me that way. If not, I may attempt to start one.

  16. Thanks for the lead. I hope it helps.
  17. I just purchased an Oregon 450. How do I download caches from this site to the GPS? I have been using a Droid. Very simple to use and find caches. No downloading with everything at your finger tips at all times. Hope I didn't just waste my money. I am sure it is listed step by step on the website, but I had no luck finding it. Thanks Smitty
  18. Took the plunge today. Purchased a Oregon 450. Had some Cabellas bucks and the 50 rebate made it a really good deal. Cannot wait to use it. Hope it is easier then the Droid or I wasted my money.
  19. I know exactly what you are saying. I have a buddy who is a HUGE fan of the Garmin 60csx. Thanks for all the feedback. Please keep it coming. I want to make a purchase that I will be happy with for a couple of years for sure.
  20. I have been caching with my Droid for a few months. I really do like some of the things that it can do. Access logs, descriptions, etc. I am looking to purchase a GPS of some sort. I would really like to have paperless. I want to be able to access the descriptions, view a close cache. I can do all these things with my phone and use the combo of the two. Only problem is service on the phone. It is often spotty at times. According to Garmin the Colorado, Dakota, and Oregon all have this capability. I also have looked at the eTrex Vista HCx and it looks like a solid unit. Don't know if does all the things that I am looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to buy a unit and not be happy with it and end up using my phone or buying different unit. Thanks in Advance: Smitty
