How do I get the Geocache code before going out to place my cache?

I tried searching for this with no results found, but this might be a common question and one the moderators might add to the FAQ:

 

How do I get the Geocache code before going out to place my cache?

 

The idea is to go out with my GPS and a marker, and write those data along with the Geocache code on the cache label in one trip.

sure you can get the number, go to "hide and seek" and do the listing but leave the "Yes, this listing is active " box unchecked, accept the terms and all that stuff at the bottom of the page and than report the new listing

 

the reviewer won't see it, when you are done hiding the cache, check 'Yes, this listing is active" and resubmit, now it will go in queue to be published by the reviewer

I was also told by a reviewer that if you send them the GC # they can review it for possible clashes before you submit it for final review.
