+Smilin' Dawg
A friend of mine just got a Delorme pn-40 and is curious about how to load PQ into it. Quote Link to comment
+Pax42
There are multiple ways to load PQs to the PN. You can use GSAK, Cache Register (a $10 download from Delorme) or the Topo software that came with the unit. Here's the process for using Topo USA 8.0. 1. Once you get your zipped PQ go ahead and extract it. You'll have the main cache file and the child waypoint file. 2. Connect your PN-40 to the PC, turn it on and select enter for data exchange mode. 3. Open Topo USA 8.0. 4.You can now drag-n-drop each of the gpx files onto the map screen of Topo. If the gpx files are large be patient. 5. Click on the exchange dialog box at the top of the screen (PN-40 icon) 6. On the left side of the box expand "waypoints". You should see the two files you just brought into Topo. Highlight the first one and click on the send button. After a few seconds (or longer depending on file size) you'll see the file appear under "waypoints" on the right side of the box. Repeat for the second file. 7. Click "done" in the lower right corner of the box. You should now have all the caches and their associated child waypoints loaded to the device. Quote Link to comment

+embra
Pax42 laid out the options. Here is a little tutorial for using the TopoUSA softtware. It adds a few screenshots to the directions already described. Edited May 22, 2010 by embra Quote Link to comment

+mini cacher
GPSBabel 1.3.7 Beta will also communicate with the PN-40. I've used it before and it works pretty well. And it is free. Quote Link to comment
