  1. Just found out that it is a garmin plugin problem.
  2. Today I used the send to gps feature from the new map for the first time. Everything seemed to work fine. Got the message that it was written to gps. When I was out in the field the caches were missing. I used it from the popup mneu for the cache not off the cache page. I have used this feature many times before and not had a problem. I have a Garmin 450 oregan. Any one else had this problem?
  3. Select your profile, then quickview, then click set up notifications on right side under Premium features on right side about halfway down. you should be able to figure from there
  4. Try this http://www.magellangps.com/Magellan-Communicator-for-Mac
  5. This is also my situation after a move...sorry for my ignorance, but where are the Instant Notification settings? http://www.geocaching.com/notify/default.aspx Quickview>premium feature on right side about halfway down> set up notifications.
  6. You might find this site helpful: http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk/resources/htmlcodes.html Exactly what I was looking for. Bookmarked it. Look forward to see what other people use.
  7. Is there and easy place to get the html code or how to, so I can place photos on the cache pages in the description? I used to cut and paste from old event pages but now you can't get the codes off them.
  8. Geocachers are a cross section of the population. Ages 1 to 100, men and woman, rich and poor, nice and not so nice. So of my best friends are people I have meet geocaching. I know of some that have meet their forever mates at a geoevent. I have also meet people I don't want to hang with and I am sure vice versa. Enjoy the things you like about geocaching and ignore the parts you don't. My wife likes going new places we find because of gC but does not like logging them. Enjoy the sport for what it is, A Hobby.
  9. Can you write the reviewer and tell them which waypoints are physical waypoint and which are not? The reviewers might not have looked close enough at them to make the proper decision. It is OK to nicely ask the reviewer to double check his or her decision. Give them what facts you have and ask for a explenation.
  10. Anyone know why the Add to calendar button for outlook/Ical does not give you a readable file?
  11. I tell new caches that they might be comfortable until they hit 300-500. Keep playing and make friends with someone else who caches.
  12. A friend of mine just got a Delorme pn-40 and is curious about how to load PQ into it.

    MyFinds PQ

Add me to the list. The button only refreshes the page. Running Safari 4.0.4 on an imac with 10.6.2
  14. Mine was still doing it this morning with Safari 4.0.4 and OSX 10.6.2 and no Nortons. I cleared the cache from Safari and closed browser, reopened and it works fine now. It is doing something that it was doing since before the update. It says at the bottom of the browser page on Safari that it is loading http://www.geocaching.com/ completed 9 of 10 items and never finishes. The numbers changes on opening the broswer different times. It looks like the ad under the links on the left side of home page is missing. I think there is a minor bug still.
  15. Not sure how you are accessing the maps, but I just ran through my normal access methods and did not encounter any new problems. Going to the small area map in the upper right still gives me a generalized road map. Clicking the small "i" in the upper right of the larger map down the right side of the page still gives me a better map with options for different scales of satellite image and a dumbed down topographic. It sometimes defaults to Palo Alto like it always has before the update, but refreshing the page almost always fixes that on the first try. The Geocaching.com Google Map link works fine to see the cache and other nearby ones as does the direct Google Maps link for a good view without the large icon covering ground zero. MAC OSX 10.4.11 Safari 4.0.4 Maybe it was a temporary link problem caused by the update yesterday? ...or maybe if you are not on a high speed connection something is timing out? I know I've had fewer problems since going with a DSL. I have a high speed connection with comcast. The geocaching with google maps is the problem. It is the one that displays the map and caches also.
  16. I run OSX 10.6.2 and Safari 4.0.4 When I click on View Map the map loads in half format and never loads the caches. Firefox seems to work correctly. Anyone else having the same problems?
  17. Here is an email I got that might help. I have an iMac 10.6 and an oregan 400t Turn the Oregon off. Plug the cable into the Oregon and then into the Mac's USB port. The Oregon will mount on your computer as a volume called "Garmin." In it is a folder called "GPX" . Drag the .gpx file from your expanded PQ to that folder. Unmount the Garmin volume, the Oregon will turn off. Unplug it and turn it on, and your waypoints will be there. Also, Garmin has the web updater for Mac. Works great! In fact, they have lots of good software for Mac: http://www8.garmin.com/macosx/index.jsp A few points from the made-that-mistake file: I change the name of my PQ to reflect it's location (local.gpx, Vallejo.gpx, etc.), to make it easier to identify and replace. Copy the files to the Garmin one at a time. It sometimes chokes if you load them all at once. The Oregon holds 2000 waypoints, so you can utilize many PQs at once. Always check the Oregon before flying out of the house to make sure the PQ is showing correctly. Once in a blue moon I have to delete the file from the Oregon and copy it back to get it to load properly.
  18. I just got a Oregon 400t and wonder what it the best way to load geocache PQs in it with a Mac?
  19. I finally found it. Thanks for the support.
  20. I used one of the tools it linked to. I wouldn't suggest that tool though unless you're familiar with that area of knowledge, which from your question at the beginning I assume you're not. I am not. He is a PC techie and I am a mac person. He is ribbing me over this.
  21. I got the correct checksum using the revised web page. Not sure how bflentje could have derived the same coordinates from the previous one, but perhaps there is an alternate solution. I know another set of in-theme numbers that will give the correct checksum, but I can't seem to translate that into a 1.5 terrain final that is not in someone's property. Since it is bad form to reveal the method here, I won't add any more except to add that the tools are not specialized, and any of the web page / tools mentioned here probably will work. he says that http://easycalculation.com/binary-converter.php does not work with it.
  22. That was a joke BTW. But it is solved. Thanks for the easy puzzle. What program or website did you use?
  23. I get a set of numbers that = the checksum but are on private property.
  24. I am trying http://easycalculation.com/binary-converter.php
