+DragonsWest
When downloading a map from gpsfiledepot can you download an entire state at one time or do you have to do it in sections? And about how long does the process take? When I downloaded California TOPO it came as an entire file, which had to be executed to unpack all the sections. Download time was only a couple minutes over 5-6 mb/s DSL. Unpack took a minute or so. Using latest Basecamp, install on my Oregon 450 of the entire state took about 20 minutes. +splashy
It would be handy to know your speed and what state you want, but you could start your download and readout the remaining time. Quote Link to comment

I understand how to highlight the state and download, ive allready done that. but getting it to the gps,i dont understand executing to unpack the sections. Is that something it does automatic or do you physically have to do it. i have a oregon 450t and im using mapquest. Quote Link to comment

snowfleurys
Memory card in computer is much faster. Quote Link to comment
eaparks
Memory card in computer is much faster. Doesn't the Oregon 450 support 2.0 USB? Then the time should be the same when using either a card reader or with the memory card in the GPS. Quote Link to comment

snowfleurys
Doesn't the Oregon 450 support 2.0 USB? I was thinking it might; however, Garmin's website says: Interface: high-speed USB and NMEA 0183 compatible That might refer to USB2.0, or it might not. I do not remember anyone posting about improved transfer speeds. Quote Link to comment
