Hick_Klop
I have sent an email to Groundspeak with a suggestion. I would like to see what others think. My Suggestion was that when a new member signs up on Geocaching.com there is a box for them to include the user name of the geocacher that had introduced them to the sport. Then along side ones profile with the number of finds, hides, etc… There would be a number for the number of members recruited. Being that geocaching has the friendly competition with the FTF and different milestones along with total finds. This could be yet another factor, another small thing to add to the bragging rights. Please let me and Groundspeak know what you think. Personally I don’t see any harm in adding this extra info. Thanks for your time, Karl aka Hick_Klop Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
Could I take credit for all the new cachers I meet who I don't scare off? Or if we recruit a new cacher, can we then get half of a smiley for every cache they find, and a quarter of a smiley for every cache that someone they recruit finds, etc? With a good pyramid scheme, it would not take long before the entire world is caching. Or should there be a minimum time period that a recruit has to stay in the game before it counts? I don't know, to me its not about the numbers. Edited April 23, 2010 by Erickson Quote Link to comment

Groundspeak and the Geocaching.com website do not officially recognize FTF (First to Find). Or any other "milestones" for that matter. But good luck. Quote Link to comment
+Semper Questio
I just don't see why every facet of this game has to be made into some form of competition or be about getting credit for something. And I'll freely admit I celebrate "milestones" and FTFs. But the longer I play this game (just over 6 years now) the more I find those, particularly the FTFs, to be less and less of interest. I used to have a stats page on my website, but I took those off long ago. I still have the stats blocks for GC and WM there, but I only have those there for my extended family to see since they are always asking. And as for getting others to join? Well, I just like sharing the things I liek to do with my friends. If they like it too, then we do it together. That's all the "credit" I need, thank you very much. </soapbox> Quote Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
How many do you have to recruit before you get the pink Cadillac? Quote Link to comment
+42at42
I was thinking you were talking about membership credit. For every member you recruit who purchases a premium membership, you receive 1 month free. So for every 10 recruits, it gets you a free year. It makes financial sense, GC.com gets $300 in memberships and gives away $30. Credits for their find, doesn't make GC any money and doesn't help you out. Quote Link to comment
+Chrysalides
For something with more benefits all around, a referral system for premium membership makes more sense. Many businesses have that. Say, a month free for everyone you puts you down as reference when they purchase a premium membership for the first time. (edit : looks like 42at42 has the same idea as me ) Edited April 23, 2010 by Chrysalides Quote Link to comment
