anyone here in to caching by dual sport? as in street legal dirt bikes.. I've done a few, up in the Naches Pass area.. but would like to maybe get a buddy to come along with.. as it can be risky riding alone in the back country

We do it occasionally on a Yamaha TW200, in fact did one that way on Friday last. However we live in Winthrop and since our truck died we can't haul the bike far to cache anymore. We have had some great caching rides in Wenatchee and even took it to the San Juans once.

Ya, I would like to do some more dualsport caching myself and you are right. Much safer to buddy up when you get out a ways. I am ready to search out some jeep trails and other areas. Also you might start a thread on Thumper Talk dualsport section. I'm down here in the Gorge but I would be up for some northern caching sometime. My XR650 needs new rubber and I have 3 teens and plenty of commitments so getting away is not always easy and my piggie (bike) doesn't like super technical riding. So I'm full of excuses and a little ways a way which means you are better off riding with someone closer to home. I know they are out there, I have heard mention of caching on TT and on the Oregon dualsport yahoo group. I'll PM you some time,

I ride a Husky TE610, similar to your bike in size.. so I mostly stick to fire roads and jeep trails and some single track like the 941 and 961 trails in Naches Basin area..

Something you may be interested in.. we have an annual camp and ride at Gifford Pinchot in September.. camp out for five days and we have all kinds of rides, from the high mountain goat trail single track, to fairly tame, but fun adventure loops on the easier trails and forest roads.. then we all sit around the camp fire in the evenings, talking about riding and such.. and usually have a potluck, and some off-road/adventure motorcycling related slide shows.. good group

this year, I think I am going to put together a Geocache ride that will hit some of the great caches in the area.

Thanks for the heads up Robdogg! I'll check in with you later in the summer. I have to run my daughter to college sometime in that time span but Gifford Pinchot sounds like fun. I need to get some D606's headed my way and when I get them on maybe I'll shoot you a PM and see if you are still up for some caching! -- CC
