I have searched through the zip code list and other off GC.com lists, but I can't find a reference to this marker. It's on the corner of a road, I had stopped to take a phone call, spied the marker, and of course didn't mark the coords :P I did snap a photo with my phone camera. It says Polk County 103 1994 GPS Survey Monument. It's not too far out of Amity Oregon 97101 and on the corner of SW Perrydale Rd and SW McKee Rd. 4512583377_fc4dcf02f8.jpg

I'm a newbie too but I think I can help with this.

The benchmarks on the site are National Geodetic Survey (NGS) benchmarks. All benchmarks are not listed in the geocaching.com database. They are too numerous to begin to comprehend. There are tons of benchmarks from probably thousands of agencies all around. Just drive along a road and look for witness posts and you'll probably see one from an agency near you. (Like Polk County. :P )

If you wish you can create a waymark on the Waymarking site. I think it would be in this category.

Happy hunting.

Not all survey markers are listed in the geocaching.com database.

Mostly right!

Only marks that were in the NGS database around 2000 are in the Geocaching database.

There are many zillions of marks that have not been included in the NGS database for various reasons, therefore they are not in the Geocaching database.

While some marks have been added to the NGS database since 2000, Groundspeak has chosen not to update their database.
