+SandyCreekPirates
Hello! My wife and I are geocachers and we found this marker on our walk from one cache to the next. It does not look like the benchmark that we found very near our home. Does anyone have any information on what it might be and/or how we can log it if it is a benchmark? Thanks, Del SandyCreekPirates Quote Link to comment
+SandyCreekPirates
Whoops! Forgot to say that I searched the coordinates that we recorded and the closest benchmark listed is 0.2 miles away. Thanks, Del SandyCreekPirates Quote Link to comment

+jwahl
I would concur, it may be a BM or control point, but most likely a property corner for a National Park, or monument or something of the sort. - jlw Quote Link to comment
+SandyCreekPirates
As a matter of fact, the marker was found near an entrance to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Guess this confirms the suspicions. In case anyone is ever nearby and interested in seeing it for yourself, the coordinates for the marker are: N 35 42.367 W 83 31.370 Thanks, Del SandyCreekPirates Quote Link to comment
kayakbird
There are several PID'd BM disks of this type in the vicinity of Pearce Ferry, Meadview AZ. GR0408 with an unknown date. There was lot of activity in that area as the reservoir behind Boulder Dam (now Hoover) started to fill in the late 30's. kayakbird Quote Link to comment
