+Thack Pack
We have all seen the face of a benchmark disk. Does anyone have a picture of the backside and/or profile of benchmark disks? Quote Link to comment
BeachBum22
I've never seen one dismounted, I'm sure the guys who are surveyors have, but Berntsen has a drawing of them on their website: http://www.berntsen.com/browser.php?cat_sel=21&level=2&olevel=19&show=21&showprod=49&ssave=survey+markers They also have replicas of certain markers (but no pictures) and I was wondering what they looked like so I ordered one and it came today. Pictures are here if anyone is interested: http://www.benchmarkhunting.com/detail.cfm?pid=AJ3110 Scan didn't come out great, but picture is OK. Nice paperweights.... Quote Link to comment
+TheGertridgeExplorers
Look for my TB "Locationless Benchmark" It is an unused benchmark from Ontario's Office of the Surveyor General. I got permission to turn it into a TB. It will hopefully be heading south into the States soon. -Donna G Quote Link to comment

+Kewaneh & Shark
It just so happens that I have a few un-mounted brasscaps in my office. These are unmarked, 2" disks that we set as street centerline monuments and as municipal elevation benchmarks. They are inscribed when they are placed. The NGS benchmarks are very similar in design. +Thack Pack
Thank you all for the information. I was curious to see how these marks were anchored into place. Quote Link to comment
IronNStone
I got a bench mark from a guy in northern calf off of ebay (unused) and I'll send some pics. and down load them. It looks like a mushroom with a split tongue at the bottom. Quote Link to comment
