+hunterKat
I've just attached an item to a travel bug tag I've had for a few months and went to activate it. The site wouldn't let me activate because it already belongs to someone else. I looked it up, and sure enough, that same number was used and activated in October 2009. Isn't there supposed to be some kind of control that prevents duplication of numbers? This is not a home-grown tag, it's an official Groundspeak tag, as it appears is the one already activated. What do I do now? Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
You probably have, but re-check to make sure that you didn't misread the tracking #. Sometimes characters can be read as others. 8=B, 0=o=Q, l=1, etc. Too, I suppose it could be possible that the "other" number was misread when activating. Best solution if latter is the case: contact@geocaching.com Quote Link to comment
+hunterKat
Yep, I did verify my numbers. I also found the TB number on the one already activated (on a posted photo), and it looks like it is the very same number. I'll send a note as you suggest, and see what happens. Thanks for the tip!
