Does anyone know, or have a link to, the advantage the DeLorme PN-40 has over the PN-30?

Looking for a GPS that will painlessly deal with geocache downloads.

Thanks

I apologize if this has been covered 50 or 60 times already...

They are identical except for the color and the barometric altimeter & electronic compass being in the 40 (and the option of 8GB of internal memory on the 40SE) and not the 30. In terms of GPS performance (satellite lock, accuracy, paperless caching) there's no difference.

I like the tri-axial compass that come with the 40! No need to be moving for the compass to point you in the proper direction unlike the PN-30, this helps me a LOT! Altimeter, not used much, but will likely come in handy when I cruise to Alaska and play on the mountains lol

Other than that, the two work the same!!

I'm with RR on this one.

I have turned off the EC,

and quickly decided I am both spoiled and lazy.

Sometimes I just like to stop and take in my surroundings, and I can keep a fix on which way the cache is.

Never really had much use for the compass because you always had to recalibrate it alot. (Magellan Meridian platinum)

I had a MeriPlat and the only time recalibration was needed was when swapping out batteries. That's inherent in any electronic compass.

That's about the only time I calibrate as well with the PN! :P
