Why don't NGS Benchmarks count in your List of Geocaches found(s)?

Well, the short answer is because they are not considered geocaches (and rightfully should never be). They were not placed (nor listed) by geocaching members. Only containers/events/virtuals done in the name of geocaching should be considered geocaches.

 

GC.com does keep a count of how many benchmarks you log there, but won't count them toward your geocache find total.

I'd also like to think by not being tallied in the find count, it would keep a majority of the masses who want another smiley from logging bogus finds. I know, it already happens, but think of how much worse it could be if they were to be part of the find count. *shudders*
