Etrex (Basic Yellow) / Symbols / GSAK

Recommended Posts

I've now got GSAK set up just the way I want it. But I'm struggling to control the icons which are being allocated to the waypoints that I am uploading.

Does anyone know what the names of the icons that the basic etrex uses are, as referred to in GSAK. For example, one of the icons is a boat. But there is nothing in the GSAK which is called "boat".

I know the etrex doesn't have too many icons, but it would be useful to set things up better than just having everything flagged as "airport" as they seem to be at the moment!!

Thanks!

Matt

There is probably a list somewhere but if you can't find it you could also use GSAK to tell you. It will take a little work on your part.

If you're interested here's how (GSAK menu selections are shown in blue):

- create waypoints using each of the icons available on your eTrex

- create a new empty database in GSAK (Database=>New)

- add the Symbol column to display in your grid (Tools=>Options=>display)

- download the waypoints from your GPS (GPS=>Receive Waypoints)

You can then compare the waypoint icons used on your eTrex to the name displayed under the Symbol column in GSAK
