+n8aho
I must be missing the point on this new feature. The description reads "Groundspeak can send updates to Twitter when you post Field Notes" I don't quite understand what it's purpose is. Is anyone using it? Isn't it just as easy to directly post via a twitter client? Jim Edited April 30, 2009 by n8aho Link to comment
Moun10Bike
See http://coord.info/textmark.aspx. You can text your find from your phone to update both your field notes and your Twitter status at one time. Saves a step. Link to comment
+sTeamTraen
As an aside, I wish it would say "Geocaching.com can send updates to Twitter". Having "Groundspeak" sending them sounds like a lackey is poised to read each of your notes and forward them. Link to comment
+eagsc7
YES!!! Most of the more active Geocachers in the Greater Spokane area use it, and it works GREAT!!! The only thing to remember is that when you TXT your log, it is placed as a FIELD NOTE! This is so (as the lackeys say) that you can come home and edit and write the log as you Really want it before it posts. The Steaks Link to comment
Skippermark
This feature works with any phone/device that can post "live" field notes. Meaning, it works with cell phones sending SMS field notes (link posted by Moun10Bike) as well as when you mark a cache found using the iPhone field notes feature but it won't work with a regular GPS that simply uploads its field notes to the site such as a Colorado or PN-40. It's a neat feature, but the "tweets" can get a bit overwhelming when you have 4 or 5 friends doing a numbers run and are marking caches found every 10 minutes for 10 hours.
