personalized wooden coins

Hello All,

 

I've seen numerous caches now with personalized wooden coins in them.

Does anyone know where to purchase these "coins"?

There are a couple different ways. Hobby and craft stores may carry blanks which you can put your own design on (draw, rubber stamp, wood burn, etc)

 

Or a google search may turn up some custom wooden nickels makers that you could send a design to, and they will print them to wooden nickels for a cost.

I'm currently working on the same sort of thing. Except I'm using Plexiglas to make mine. I may have a sample I can share in a week or two.

One of my other hobbies is woodworking so there are plenty of smal wood scraps in my shop.

 

Take the scrap, rip a strip about 1/16" from the side.

Handplane or sand the strip nice and smooth.

Cut into 3/4" to 1" lengths.

Slightly bevel edges with small handplane.

Use markers do decorate the pieces.

 

 

This is what you get.

 

 

 

My artwork is crude but it works.

They have metal ones now also and you can even personalize them with your own symbol. If you just stick with the basic wood w/ your team name they are very resonablely priced.
