  1. Thanks All. This has been very helpful and I appreciate all of the comments. Thanks again, Muggs
  2. YES! Thank you very much!!! I am bookmarking it now.
  3. Hello All, The other day I was reading a post and somehow ran across a website that had a whole bunch of articles written by geocachers and I can't seem to get back to it for the like of me. As an example there was an article about a missionary in Equator and how he heard about geocaching in the states and found 1 in Equator and has since placed quite a few. If anyone knows of what site I'm talking about I would appreciate any help. Muggs
  4. OK thanks! But for the record I'll be doing all of my caching with my 60Csx. The nuvi will be just for the car and reading cache pages (instead of using a palm or whatever). The 500 is ~ $100 more than the 760 on EPay.
  5. Hello All, I am wanting to buy a GPSr for the car and thought that I could also use it for paperless caching as I've seen something about putting cache pages as POI's into the nuvi. First, is this plausible and second would a nuvi 760 work for something like this? Thanks, Muggs
  6. I for one saw this thread last week and got the book from my library and I'm about 2/3rds through it. It's very good! I'm enjoying it! Muggs
  7. Great job! I love watching other cachers and what they find interesting. For me the real beauty of geocaching is the interesting things you find along the way. As kids we would really LOOK at things, but as we become adults, we see things, but rarely take the time to look at and enjoy the things we see. Thanks, Muggs
  8. There are two places that I'm aware of that talk about proximity alerts. 1. Setup>System>Proximity Alarms. I think I've always had this on. 2. Proximity>Proximity Alarm Tones>Proximity Alarms. I think I've always had this on (checked) as well. I have always heard a beep whenever I get to within 40 feet of a cache, but I have never seen the Alerts in the red box thing before. Thanks, Muggs
  9. Hello All, Today for the first time My 60 CSx started to give Alerts in a red box whenever I approached a GC. I've never seen this before and don't really know what it's telling me as it only stays on for a second or so. Has anyone else ever experienced this behavior? And how can I turn it off? The message - Alert: HOME/Oth/N/HOME Thanks, Muggs
  10. Can you please tell me the name of the "knock-off" bag? Thanks, Muggs
  11. OH, a stamp is a good idea. Thanks!
  12. Hello All, I've seen numerous caches now with personalized wooden coins in them. Does anyone know where to purchase these "coins"? TIA, Muggs
  13. Well now, don't I feel [bad]. I did in fact get a refund and an explanation of the circumstances of the situation. The gentleman is ill and unable to make it to the post office. But this is a great example of how being upfront and forthright with people would have kept me from making a fool of myself and doing possible damage to your business. I apologize for the rant and any harm I may have caused your business. I hope people read to the end of this thread. Muggs [Edited by moderator for potty language.]
  14. This link says that they are "closed for remodelling" : http://onestopcacheshop.com/oscs/ (although that's a pretty tacky way of running a web-based business, if you ask me!) You say that you've had email contact with the owner... have you since tried asking him what's going on? Yeah, the email address is Yaddayadda@onestopcacheshop.com and so bounces right back at me.
  15. Hello All, Has anyone else been screwed by onestopcacheshop.com. I ordered something a month ago and when I inquired a few weeks back I got an email saying they were just back from vacation and would get the item out ASAP. Well now the website says "Store Closed". Oh well rant over. Thanks for letting me vent. Muggs Problem corrected! Read to the end.
  16. Excellent! Thanks! PM me and I'll give you the address. Muggs
  17. What Macro please vwaldoguy? Thanks, Muggs
  18. Thanks, that works after I made my own folder and put the file you so kindly supplied. I guess my questions are: Why wasn't the folder (and the two sample files) created on my Windows Vista machine? Have people (smarter than me) made up other .wlx files? Thanks, Muggs
  19. Hello All, I just read about being able to RMB on a map in MapSource and selecting "Find Near Caches on geocaching.com". But it's not there! And in Edit>Preferences>Web Links there nothing there. Any thoughts? Should I reload from CD or is the file located somewhere on my HDD that I should be looking for? Thanks, Muggs
  20. Has anyone mentioned a really spongy feeling rocker 'button'? Or annoyingly dull screen. Or bad ergonomics that require two handed operation and lots of thumb moving from rocker to enter for data entry? If not then let me do that now. Well, I don't have a problem with the buttons. I acually prefer them this way (on the front) however, I will admit that the screen is not a bright as my Vista Hcx.
  21. Well, if you're anything like me, expect to be very happy! Muggs
  22. vwaldoguy, I own ExpertGPS, LOL. I completely forgot about it. I'll load it tomorrow and give it a try. It's probably three years since I last installed, and used it at all. Thanks for the thought, Muggs
  23. OK, After some messin' round I find it fairly accommodating. So... Here's my plan: 1. Ride around on my Mtn bike collecting data. 2. This will save as a track on my microSD card. 3. Maybe I'll make waypoints at the intersections and such. 4. I get home and get the track(s) off of the GPSr and upload them into MapSource. 5. In MapSource I'll make new tracks and draw over top of the uploaded track and call it "trail-1" etc. Does this sound like how most people do this kind of thing, or am I misssing something? Any help is welcome, Muggs
