+hraethigaldur
Hi all! I have searched everywhere for an answer or clue to this problem but still no luck. The problem is that when i want to add waypoints (gpx files downloaded from geocaching.com) in mapsource via the open meny i can only add 1 gpx file a time. If i try to add more gpx-files the ones that i imported earlyer disappear and i get the feeling of that the map is reseted in mapsource. If i add waypoints via the mapsource interface everything is ok and i can add several new waypoints at a time. Does anyone have an idea if this is a bug, och known problem with mapsource? I have tried several different versions of mapsource but the problem still exists. I have also tried it on different computers with the same result. I´ve read a couple of topics regarding different programs that helps with waypoint creation in mapsource but are not sure if it relates to this problem or even better solves this problem. My GPS is a Garmin gpsmap csx60. Any advice is much appreciated. Regards Pelle Quote Link to comment
+splashy
Colorado and Oregon I'm sure, other gps might be I don't know. Even if you delete the old waypointfile from the gps it will remember the waypointnamefile. If you want to transfer a new waypointfile to the gps Backup the old one Delete all waypoints with the gps Put the new waypointfile on the gps with windows explore or mapsource >>>>>>>>>>>>> UNDER ANOTHER NAME AS BEFORE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Edited March 4, 2009 by splashy Quote Link to comment
strumble
Open up the new .gpx file. Copy and paste all the waypoints into the original mapsource. Quote Link to comment
+hraethigaldur
Splashy: Ok, i will try that when i come home from work. Does that mean that i must add 1 gpx file, send it to my GPS unit, then add another one and send that instead of just adding say 10 gpx files at one time and send them to the unit? Strumble: That sounds like a lot of work but if it helps me im more than satisfied. Thanx alot for your answers! /Pelle Edited March 4, 2009 by hraethigaldur Quote Link to comment

+hraethigaldur
Not even 30 seconds. I put all the gpx files in the same folder and from a command prompt execute: type *.gpx >>c:\gpxfiletoimport\newfile.gpx Thanx again strumble Quote Link to comment
+splashy
Are you sure you mean waypoints, looks you mean geocaches. Quote Link to comment
+hraethigaldur
Well, i mean geocaches but when i import the gpx file in mapsource the little box-icon appears under waypoints. I just thougt it was a waypoint with a geocachestylee icon? Am i missing something. As you probably already figured out im a total newbie to the geocaching hobby. Edit: Hmm.. i think that im going to use the POI alternative. That seems to be what im looking for. Thanx all for helping! Edited March 4, 2009 by hraethigaldur Quote Link to comment
+splashy
I don't geocache, but I think you need GSAK from http://www.gsak.net/ they have macros to load the caches Quote Link to comment
GeoBobC
There's another way: open up Mapsource. Open the first gpx file. Select all the waypoints and "copy" them to the clipboard. Open up the 2nd gpx file. Paste the waypoints from the 1st gpx file. Now you have all the waypoints from the 1st and 2nd gpx files. Repeat (i.e. "select all", "copy", open the 3rd gpx file, paste). +hraethigaldur
GeoBobC: I found your tip the fastest way to import the gpx-files into mapsource. Strange that Garmin havent added the function to import or open batches of gpx files in one sweep. Thanx! Quote Link to comment
