If you belong to a local Geocaching Club, do they ever have simple/short get togethers. Say over coffee and a doughnut, to meet one another, make new friends, swap caching stories, etc.

 

Do you attend? Why not?

 

If no local club, would you attend if there was one?

We have a monthly meet-n-greet that we rotate between three local cities. Whoever lives in the host city proposes the location when it's their month. Attendance is generally pretty good and we often have new attendees, not just a group of regulars.

The Geocaching Wheypoint regularly has a Coffee Cluth meeting. Every week. I wouldn't miss it.

They do have events. I tend to not not go. I like small groups of folks. Large groups are pretty worthless until they are so large you break out into small groups again.

Our group just had a small get together at a local restaurant to celebrate a cachers B-Day, and made it an event. About 20 cachers were there, and everyone had a great time. Some times the small intimate gatherings are the most fun. Having a newly posted cache just published minutes before the event, and down the street from the restaurant help make it an interesting night. "Ahhh... the race for FTF!"

I would most certainly join a geocaching club and attend meetings/outings if there were fellow geocachers to chit chat with that were more on my level of caching and equipment.

We often have people who post in the local forum just to get together for whatever.

 

I'm more inclined to do that than attend formal events. (and yes I consider any published event - formal.)
