+grTamcacher
I have been looking and looking through this forum to find the answer to my question... but alas, no luck. My question is... When you are the owner of a TB and someone logs it, should I be sending them an email thanking them for moving it along, or responding to what they put in their log? This has been bugging me for awhile now and I would really like to know what the proper form is... if I am supposed to be doing this, or if it's a no-no. Thanks for the assistance. You folks ROCK!! wheegeo and geoMurf (formerly grTamcacher) Quote Link to comment

You folks ROCK!! wheegeo and geoMurf (formerly grTamcacher) You can if you want to. Sometimes, I'll check someone's profile and if I see they are well experienced at moving trackables. If they've moved a bunch, I don't feel the need to send them an email, or thank you. If I see they are very new, I might send one thanking them and telling them I look forward to where it's going, and such, just to add a personal touch that might make them feel more responsible for it. If they haven't move it after 6 weeks, I might send a friendly email asking them if it's going to be placed soon. I've gotten emails too, from owners, but I don't always have to reply to them either, unless they have asked for a reply. Sometimes it's just a quick "Thanks for moving my bug!" message. But you don't have to do anything other than sit back and hope it moves. Quote Link to comment

+The Blorenges
As Eartha says... I've sent emails when Someone has picked up the TB and noted "We thought we'd come up here and collect this TB as it's been stuck in this cache for x months and it's time it moved on"... OR "We've just picked up your TB. We'll be flying over to XXXX next week, so we thought we'd take it 800 miles towards its destination..." OR "We're going on holiday to Timbuctoo next month. would you like us to take your TB/coin over there? or would you ratherit remained in this country?" OR "I thought I'd better email you: Really sorry I've had your trackable for 6 months, but <perfectly legitimate reason about Real Life intervening> and I haven't been able to go out caching." It's really great when cachers drop you a friendly email from hundreds/thousands of miles away. MrsB Quote Link to comment
southpawaz
I generally try to send a quick note of thanks after the bug has been dropped back in the cache, noting one or more of the following: the long distance moved; the speed with which it was moved; complimenting the cache they chose to leave it in, etc. Quote Link to comment
