+Vanelle
I have traded for some coins that I can't find the activation codes for. I am quite sure that someone here can point me in the right direction. Arctic Nomad (inuksuk) - Yep! Thanks tadpole379 Jan&Percey Boys (Light Bulb) - Got it! Thanks tadpole379 Around the World in 80 Days (balloon) - Aha. Thanks Droo. Thanks in advance for your help. Edited June 16, 2008 by Vanelle Quote Link to comment
+tadpole379
Arctic Nomad was minted by PERSONALGEOCOINS.COM so check their site for activation code retrievel. I believe the Balloons were minted by Oakcoins. The lightbulb could be landsharkz, but I am not sure about that. Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment
+Vanelle
Something interesting happened when I tried to retrieve the activation code for the Arctic Nomad. I received a note which said that someone had already retrieved the activation code, (which is common when coins are traded), and if I needed the code, I should send a photo of the coin. I did not realize that you can only retrieve an activation code once. Is this true for all sites? What happens if I lose my list of codes??!! <shudder> Quote Link to comment
+Droo
Balloons are definitely Oakcoins/Geoswag. Quote Link to comment

If you pull the activation code for your coin no one else can. The email account for the retrieval is used as a verifier. Should you lose your codes you can pull them again but not anyone else. A pic of the coin with the tracking # clearly visible shows you have the coin in your possession so it's clearly yours... unless you palmed it out of someone's collection while they weren't looking... lesson: never bring unactivated coins to an event and if you bring traders take extra precautions. If you have a dozen unactivated coins for which you've pulled their activation codes and have not written them down on the little card inserts it's time to create a small coin database or excel file. I prefer database as each field (column) is locked to each specific record (row) and you can sort by all sorts of means without scrambling everything. Quote Link to comment

+Vanelle
Thanks Droo! I have a crazy excel file with everything in it. Great advice. How do you lock it so that the rows and columns can not get mixed up? That is a constant fear of mine whenever I sort the data.... Quote Link to comment
