+ByzantineFalcon Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I did a quick search, but I am still a bit confused with the details of how this works. I found a local cache that was in disrepair. As the owner is no longer living in this state, I took a bit of time to fix it up, put a new log in, waterproofing, etc. I then sent the owner a message to let him know and that I wouldnt mind taking care of it. He was fine with the idea, having been gone for a few years already. So, how do I go about doing this officially? Quote

Try this link: http://www.geocaching.com/adopt/ Not sure how it works, please let us know how it turned out! Quote
+ByzantineFalcon Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 Hmm... said another member has been invited to adopt that cache. I will send the owner another e-mail, and let it go from there. Quote
+Thot Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) This method requires action by the original owner. TPTB used to let you adopt abandoned caches where the owner can no longer be contacted. Do they no longer permit this. If they still do, what's the current procedure for doing that? Edited June 10, 2008 by Thot Quote

Forced adoptions are no longer allowed. If he is an absentee owner and will not respond to you, your only alternative is to request that the cache be archived, then submit your own listing once it's gone. Quote
