+kirgy9
iv been caching a while now with 31 under my belt, iv been using my tomtom, drawn maps and used head hunting. But now i think this is more of a sport for me than a phase, so i want to buy a GPS of some sort. But i dont know what to look for, im looking for something: - robust - allows Wherigo geocaches - is otherwise basic and im looking for idea of places to find them, im interested in new ones and second hand ones. Anyone that can guide me would be amazing, im really looking forward to proper geocaching and not this tedious caching! Thank you -Kirgy Quote Link to comment

Thank you -Kirgy "Currently you can participate with a Garmin Colorado or most GPS-enabled PocketPC devices." Wherigo seems to be Colorado and other Pocket PPC devices only. I've a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx, its very good. I've heard issues with colorado units so I stayed away from them. I think the 76CSx series are better than the 60CSx series since they're newer. Also, the 76CSx floats if dropped in water, unlike 60CSx. I bought mine recently for 226.99 new compared to the retail price from most places at 299.99. You can search my other posts for the place to buy it for 229.99, risen since I bought mine, or I can PM it to you. I don't think you can get any more robust unless you want to deal with colorado issues. Quote Link to comment
sjn951
We really like our Legend HCx. Accurate, rugged, reliable, gets satellite fix quickly. I understand that the pre-H models were prone to losing signal in thick cover. I can even get a fairly accurate fix inside my house! Basic eTrex models can be had for under $200. I'm interested in trying the paperless caching with my nuvi but haven't tried it yet. Quote Link to comment
