+wheretheskygrows
I've been out of the caching loop for a while now, but I want to get back into it. My Garmin eTrex Legend died a while back, so I'm in the market for a new GPS unit. Back when I was going paperless, I downloaded my pocket queries and imported them into GSAK. Then I transfered the files to the Legend and to a Sony Clie, and took both out on trips with me. Between a camera, a cell phone, a GPS unit and the Clie, it was just too many gadgets for being outdoors. I'd like to consolodate. So, is there anything out there now that allows me to do this in less steps and less gadgets? A GPS unit that holds the GPX files, too, perhaps? TIA. Quote Link to comment
+Timpat
Look into the Garmin Colorado 300/400. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
The new Garmin Colorado is what you want to look at, if you can afford it. The 400t is selling for almost $600.00 at REI, but you can get it for less online. However, REI has a great return policy, should something go wrong with the GPS unit. Quote Link to comment
+jws2go
A Delorme PN-20 will provide an economical option, Garmin's Colorado series gives you the deluxe single unit paperless experience. There is talk here about the Magellan Triton, but I have no experience with it. The first two mentioned work good and great respectively. Quote Link to comment
+XopherN71
My Colorado 400t was delivered to me yesterday, I love this thing! I can't believe the detail it has on caches, it's like I'm on the site reading about it. Logs, hints, description, difficulty rating, terrain, etc... everything is there. No regrets! +wheretheskygrows
I was reading some threads on the 300/400, and it sounds really sweet. So, I assume, I don't need programs like GSAK or Cachemate? Quote Link to comment

Certainly not Cachemate. You may want to use GSAK if you want to send a subset of your Pocket Query to the Colorado. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
In my opinion, you would still need GSAK, but not Cachemate since that is a program for either a Palm or PPC. Quote Link to comment

+Morning Dew
Do the research on the Delorme PN-20. You'll still need GSAK but only one device in the field. It will do it all. Terrain, Difficulty, Description, Hints, Logs (up to a 800 character limit) $299 including the maps. Great device and I love mine so far. Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
The Economic Stimulus payment may equal a new Co 400t, in May. Quote Link to comment
