+mTn_biKer65
Probably a stupid question but I have Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx that starts giving the battery low warnings while there's probably still a quarter of their useful life left. Since I always cache with 2 to 4 extra batteries with me I just ignore the warnings until the GPSr actually shuts down from low power. Any risk to the GPS from letting it run totally empty and forcing an unclean shutdown? Thanks Paul Edited March 3, 2008 by mTn_biKer65 Quote Link to comment

I have noticed that it is time to change batteries because my GPS gets squirrely. I would not trust it, even if it did settle down. Quote Link to comment
sanramonhunter
I noticed that the compass gets really screwy when the batteries are low. I usually switched out the batteries once the compass got annoying. Quote Link to comment
+Klemmer
Right, as above, and also if you care about your track, you will lose it, of course, when your battery dies unexpectedly. Three different models of GPS's I have owned get squirrely below about a quarter or so. Strange. Quote Link to comment
