  1. I have a suggestion that I hope someone can help with. I'm trying to filter my waymark list so it only shows waymarks from my favorite categories. I've identified approx. 100 categories as favorites. I expected to see a "Favorite Waymarks" as an option when searching for waymarks under the "Search the following types of waymarks:". It seem like a perfect fit for taking advantage of the favorite categories. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul
  2. I personally don't log my waymarks.I know others do and that's fine. Most of my current Waymarking is related to filling my placed and found matrix and the website let's me combine them for viewing if I so choose. When I log or place a cache I like to visit it personally. If my picture is to far away to be a valid visit I won't log. This also means visits while in motion are excluded. I was researching a new waymark a couple years and thought I had found a new category to place. I researched it a bit before realizing it was already waymarked. So I viewed the waymark and one of the pictures looked familiar. Sure enough after re-researching I found the exact pics on the locations business sight. A little frustrated I sent an FYI note to the approver. Oh well. I guess you play your way I'll play mine has its limits. ☺ Paul P.s. what's up with a that 5 year restriction on making a waymark for a famous persons grave site. I could say maybe 30 days but 5 years....seems extreme. I would say getting someone to visit a grave site is a good thing but that's just me....3 years down and 2 to go ? Happy Waymarking
  3. Recently I didn't receive a "Waymark Denied" e-mail with the reason for denying as well as some confirmation e-mails when reaching out to a couplee category managers. I assumed I was also missing their replies but I now see it's more likely they didn't get my question in the first place. I recall a problem like this before, a few years ago. Anyone else having an issue? Thanks Paul campbellrobertpaul@gmail.com
  4. I use GSAK to maintain separate waynarking & geocaching databases that are jointly sent to my garmin Oregon when I load it. I selected waymarks for found categories to appear as virtuals (ghost) and unfounded categories appear as webcams. Works great for me. I update my waynarking database a few times a month with Waymarks that have been placed in the last week or month or whatever time span I choose. Once updated I'll check the categories where the new Waymarks fall to see if the icon needs to be changed. MTn_biKer65
  5. This is why I like to keep them separate as well. I like to work on a waymarks placed categories list as well as waymarks visited categories list. That said this is how I play the games and others play it their way. I'm more concerned with how many people are playing the game and how we can get others to come out and start visiting. If I find there's something I'd like to add about the time I was at my waymark that might not be appropriate for the descriptions I'll usually add it as a "Leave Comment" rather than a "Visit Waymark" so it doesn't upset the stats. I've done this on occasion if there's something to add about my time there. MTB
  6. Well I choose to ignore all the suggestions and selected to "ignore" the waymark categories that I've already completed. Except for the workload it worked like a charm. Took a couple hours last night to track my route and pick out some likely candidates for visits. Not sure if I'll undo the ignored categories right away or leave it for a while. Thanks
  7. I'll heading out in a month to pick-up a new trailer and I'd like to do some Waymarking along the way and during stops. I'd like to concentrate mainly on categories I haven't yet found. I've looked up and down for a way to load up on Waymarks but I can't find anything that doesn't take a massive amount of work. Is there an easy way I can get the required info. One method that has a bit of potential is to ignore the waymark categories I've already found. Once done this should thin the results so browse my route and create a manageable list of waymarks. Still a lot of work though and I'd need to undo the process when I return. Is there another option? or has someone already created a comprehensive list of waymarks in Michigan/Ohio/Penn that they could send. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Paul
  8. I just realized Chimeras were usable as gargoyles earlier today so I drafted a waymark and am just waiting on a picture before submitting. Looks like I might in line for a decline. mTn_biKer65
  9. To each his own but personally I don't log visits on my own waymarks. This way it gives me 2 category matrix to work at as opposed to just the one combined. The website allows me to combine the stats if I so choose.
  10. I'd say post a "Needs Archived" log and I've done it a few times already. In one of the cases soon after it was archived someone anonymously replaced the container. For the next month cachers who hadn't cleaned out their GPSr were confused why the cache with such a nice container was archived in the first place. I've seen and heard about instances where cachers who haven't found specific caches replace the container so they could log the find. Sure beats a DNF I guess. I think in some of the cases it also just happened to fit a hard to find matrix square they were seeking.
  11. I was checking a little park for a possible cache hiding spot and found a cache. I initially assumed it either hadn't been listed yet or was long archived. A couple other options I didn't think of at the time was the final for a multi or a puzzle cache. As it turns out it was the final for a multi that started on the other side of town that involved diving down to get a redirect. I'd actually put the multi on my ignore list because I didn't have the equipment or the skills to dive for a redirect. I removed the multi from my ignore list and logged the find. If it had been a new unpublished cache I would've signed it and logged the FTF as well since that's what I was. Probably with mentioning that the multi has been found 7 times since it was placed in 2006 and the last 3 finds were accidental. 2 were looking for hiding spots (it's a small park) and 1 found the cache lying on the ground.
  12. Doh!!! You may want to crop that image to exclude the cache name and GC Code I don't know about others but I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to crop & resize my images before uploading.
  13. Added a new unzoomed image showing amongst other things a cache I've found. That should help narrow down the search as I don't have any souveniers West of Ontario.
  14. Here goes #5.... I've zoomed in for those that appreciate the finer details.
  15. Looks like "Third Time Lucky" (GC14ZAV) in BC. I started hunting using the satellite imagery and was in roughly the right area when I accidentally enabled the map view so I thought I'd search for a similar orientation as was shown where I was looking. A couple drags of the screen and there it was. Don't think I'll consider myself a convert quite yet.
  16. Here goes #4.... I'm sure someone will recognize this one. To simplify things I'm looking only for the cache I've found.
  17. Looks like "Treehugger (BC's First Cache)" (GC1DD) p.s. #3 on the favorites list in B.C.
  18. Image expanded to show more of the surrounding area.
  19. To keep things moving I'll expand the view. Man looks at all those caches...
  20. Here goes #3.... To simplify things I'm looking only for the identified cache which incidentally is one of two displayed that I've actually completed. Now with a new expanded image.
  21. COG Spring Fling Zero-Zero-7 (GC1MGER) Well done. A little self promotion never hurt anyone. I'd actually planned on taking the plunge this year and coming for the weekend but unfortunately "I'm told" we already have plans for that weekend.
  22. Looks like the following in British Columbia: Kettle Valley Railway (Myra) Rock Oven (GC1GD45) K.V.R. #4 - Out With The Old, In With The New (GC15CED) Donkey Engine (GC2G3RB) Trestle Madness(GC2G3QZ) K.V.R. #2 - Old Camp(GC12GZC) Weta and Tito's Loco Cache (GC2F0Z7) K.V.R. #3 - Trestle Trek (GC13CPA) trestle tunnel (GC849A) Step on up (GC2G3NH) Kettle Valley View of 3 Trestles (GC1V3EX)
